History

Hunt Room After 29 years in a lovely Buffalo Bayou location, The Rainbow Lodge has set its roots along another well-known Houston bayou - White Oak. This location is a 100 year old log cabin on an acre of grounds and the perfect stage for our hunting and fishing collectibles, garden parties and mouthwatering menu featuring comfortable game and seafood dishes.

Of interest are four huge San Jacinto River Cypress trees that form the columns in the "Trophy Room" where the centerpiece is a commanding fireplace made of Walker County stone. Hand split cypress tree trunks and gnarled knees make the beautiful staircase leading to the wine loft where we will house our award winning cellar.

Trophy Room This home was originally built by Myron Williams and architect Harry Weaver and was constructed by Alex Curpin, a French Canadian who worked with logs. It was the private home of Houston attorney, Mr. Daffan, and his wife in the 1960s. The transition to a restaurant came in 1981 and Rainbow Lodge owner, Donnette Hansen, acquired the cabin and property in mid 2006. It is truly a piece of Houston history and being located inside Loop 610 makes it so convenient from anywhere in Houston.

Deck and Garden There are many treasures to discover at Rainbow Lodge. Texas State artist, Sam Caldwell's work is featured in the entrance, bar and Caldwell Room. The famous handcarved "Tied Fly Bar" has a beautiful new setting in the rear of the cabin, overlooking the rock-lined creek, decks and terraces.
